COLETTE HOSMER |
2000 - 2006 | SOME WORK STILL AVAILABLE
"Through my work, I came to
discover that humankind was reflected in these elemental
materials – that I was being offered a glimpse into
the mysteries that connect one thing to another.”
Born in 1946, Hosmer grew
up in a small town in rural North Dakota. From an early age, she was romanced by art but the
natural sciences presented tough competition for her
choice of vocation. Eventually, she found herself making
art utilizing reptiles, amphibians, birds, mammals
and earth that she'd collected and processed. Harkening
back to the raw realties of farm life, her work constantly
addresses the awe of nature and temporal being, all
the while interjecting a sense of unpretentious play
and narrative.
